Back tracking - so where did the concept come from?
The creator of the capsule wardrobe concept is Susie Faux, who in the 70's owned a London store, named 'Wardrobe'.
She cleverly conceptualized the term and explained it was a selection of essential items, the aim is to create a timeless range of clothes that are not trend based, that is that don't go out of fashion. Source: Wikipedia
